AI from St. Pölten makes machines safe - Hanke welcomes Neuron Automation

02 June 2026

Press Release

Vienna/St. Pölten June 1, 2026 - What usually takes a safety engineer several days can be achieved by AI from St. Pölten in seconds. This means that an internationally pioneer-ing solution for functional safety - the technology that prevents machines and robots from injuring people - comes from Lower Austria. Federal Minister for Innovation, Mo-bility and Infrastructure Peter Hanke recognised this at a reception for Neuron Auto-mation. The occasion was the company's research funding from the FFG under the Frontrunner programme.

In the funded project "Neuron Transforma", the company is developing AI that inde-pendently derives proposals for program code, tests and documentation from a ma-chine's safety requirements - precisely the work that has so far consumed the majority of project time. The AI remains an assistant, not a decision-maker: approval and responsibility remain with people.
